But really, we knew what we wanted, when we wanted it, & 2010 was it. We were college graduates, had already been dating for five years, & had both just begun promising careers (which we’re still with), so even though our age may have been 23, I didn’t/still don’t think we were too young. (What is “age” anyway? What is time? I always question this. Who says what is right & wrong?) Marriage is what you put into it, & we were definitely ready for it at that point. & honestly, everything still feels exactly as it did when we were dating, the only difference now, after being married over a year & dating six + years, is that my name has changed; If I didn’t have any brothers, I would’ve kept my maiden name, after all Hayes was dying to change his last name to mine so then he could be confused with the singer/songwriter Michael McDonald. I still see that kid as my high school sweetheart, he just looks a little older & acts a bit wiser now. So it’s not like marriage has changed us. I have never had second thoughts about getting married when we did, & I have never wished that we waited longer, cos what’s the point of waiting when you have everything you need & you know what you want? We’re in it for the long haul, with or without a binding agreement. & you can ask Hayes his opinion on the matter too.
